Terms of Service for Muse
Effective Date: May 14, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Muse, the Muse website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services"), operated by Goodbye, 20th Century LLC ("Muse," "we," "us," or "our").
By using Muse, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Muse. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
2. Your Account
You may need to create an account to access some features of Muse. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials and authentication methods
- All activity that occurs under your account
You may not impersonate another person or create an account in a misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent manner.
3. User Content
"User Content" means content you submit, upload, publish, display, or otherwise make available through Muse, including profiles, avatars, bios, ratings, memories, reviews, lists, comments, likes, follows, and other materials.
Ownership
You retain ownership of your User Content.
License to Muse
By posting or submitting User Content through Muse, you grant Goodbye, 20th Century LLC a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify for formatting and display, adapt, publish, distribute, display, perform, promote, market, use, and otherwise exploit that User Content in connection with operating, improving, promoting, advertising, and commercializing Muse and related business purposes.
This license allows us to operate the service and use posted content for editorial, promotional, marketing, and business purposes without changing your ownership of the content.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that you have all rights necessary to post it.
4. Acceptable Use and Community Rules
Muse is an inclusive community. You may not use Muse to post, upload, transmit, or engage in content or behavior that includes:
- Racism
- Sexism
- Transphobia
- Homophobia
- Harassment
- Hate speech
- Violent threats
- Content targeting protected groups with abuse or dehumanization
- Illegal activity
- Fraud, impersonation, or deception
- Intellectual property infringement
- Spam or platform manipulation
Zero-Tolerance AI Policy
Muse has a zero-tolerance policy for AI-generated or AI-assisted content used as if it were human-authored within the platform, including in reviews, memories, lists, accounts, profile imagery, or other in-app content.
Any use of AI-generated or AI-assisted content in violation of this policy may result in content removal, suspension, or permanent account termination.
5. Moderation and Enforcement
We may, but are not obligated to, monitor content and behavior on Muse. We reserve the right to:
- Remove content
- Restrict content visibility
- Issue warnings
- Suspend or terminate accounts
- Refuse access to the Services
We may take these actions at our discretion if we believe you violated these Terms, our policies, applicable law, or the safety and integrity of the platform.

6. User-Generated Content Features
Muse includes user-generated content and social features. By using Muse, you understand that content posted by users reflects the views of those users, not Muse.
We may provide tools to report content, block users, or otherwise reduce harmful interactions, but we do not guarantee that all objectionable material will be removed immediately or that every interaction will be risk-free.
7. Purchases and Subscriptions
Muse may offer paid features, subscriptions, or other digital purchases through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
If you purchase a subscription or other paid feature:
- Payment is processed by Apple, not Muse directly
- Apple’s terms, billing, and refund rules may also apply
- Subscription renewal, cancellation, and billing are handled through your Apple account, unless otherwise stated
We may change, suspend, or discontinue paid features at any time, subject to applicable law.
8. Third-Party Links and Retailers
Muse may provide outbound links to third-party retailers, marketplaces, or other sites. These links are provided for convenience only.
We do not control and are not responsible for:
- third-party websites,
- their products or services,
- their privacy practices, or
- their terms.
Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk.
9. Intellectual Property
The Services, including Muse’s branding, visual design, software, features, text, graphics, logos, and other platform materials, are owned by Goodbye, 20th Century LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, or exploit any portion of the Services without prior written permission.
10. Termination
You may stop using Muse at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Muse at any time, with or without notice, if we believe:
- you violated these Terms,
- your use creates risk or legal exposure,
- your conduct harms other users or the platform,
- or termination is necessary to protect Muse or others.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including licenses, disclaimers, limitations of liability, dispute provisions, and enforcement rights.
11. Disclaimers
Muse is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free service.
We do not guarantee that Muse will always be secure, available, accurate, or free from bugs or harmful components.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Goodbye, 20th Century LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or opportunities arising out of or related to your use of Muse.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising out of or relating to Muse will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim, or
- US $100.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Goodbye, 20th Century LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or related to:
- your use of Muse,
- your User Content,
- your violation of these Terms,
- or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Services or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of Muse after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
